How does matching actually work?+
We index every driver's route on a hex grid and, for each rider request nearby, find the cheapest place to splice your pickup and drop-off into a driver's existing path — never exceeding their seats, their detour budget, or your maximum wait. It's route insertion, not just distance sorting, so a second or third rider can join a trip already underway.
How is my fare calculated?+
Fare = a base fee, plus a per-kilometre distance rate, plus a per-minute charge for the detour your pickup actually adds to the driver's route. Longer detours cost a little more and pay the driver a little more — the same number drives both sides, so pricing and payouts never drift apart.
What happens if a match falls through?+
Your card is only ever held, never charged, until the ride finishes. If a match expires, a seat disappears before you confirm, or the trip is cancelled, the hold is simply released — nothing to refund because nothing was captured.
Can I share a ride with someone going a different way?+
As long as your pickup and drop-off fit inside the driver's route within their detour limit, yes — MatchReach pools multiple riders with different origins and destinations onto one trip, splicing each stop in where it costs the least extra time for everyone already aboard.
How much can I earn as a driver?+
You keep 80% of every fare, including the full detour bonus for riders who take you slightly out of your way. Payouts are scheduled automatically once a trip completes — no invoicing, no chasing riders for cash.
